LIFE STORY:  Nancy Rizzardi grew up in Southern California.  She loves SoCal for its warm sunny days and easy access to the ocean, lakes, mountains, and vineyards. Upon retirement she followed “the dream” and moved to the Coachella Valley. Here she has found a vibrant artistic community to support and challenge her creative spirit.

STUDIES: Nancy earned an MA in Art from UCLA and pursued a career in art education at both the high school and college levels. Art continues to be her life-long passion.  Every morning you will find her surfing the web to learn new techniques, discover new materials and to find artistic inspiration.  Most days you will find Nancy playing art. She believes that success comes from experimentation, risk-taking, patience and lots of practice. 

FOCUS OF INTEREST: Nancy loves to explore different styles of art, subject matter, techniques, and materials. Water based mixed media and collage, using hand-made decorative papers, are her current interest.  Exploring new materials and methods adds a sense of adventure, whimsy and play to her work.

GALLERIES:  She is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society, the Artists Council of Palm Desert, and her work is on display at the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs, CA.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION:  Her work has received numerous awards including the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society’s Commemorative Founders Award and their Painter of the Year award for 2020.
