Passion, Planning and Play

 What is your passion?

My passion is all things art.

I love thinking about art.  What shall I paint, what materials and techniques will I use and how shall I interpret the subject or theme that I’ve chosen?  I get to decide.  This is my favorite phase of painting, so I like to spend time thinking, exploring, researching, and developing ideas before I start.  For me, creativity is the rush. Developing the idea is my passion.

Next comes the planning and execution.  What do I need to learn how to do?  A new technique perhaps, exploring a new art supply, experimenting, or problem solving. I’m willing to take risks.  I keep in mind that the finished product is not my goal.  I’m prepared to start, start over, or paint over.  It’s only paper after-all.  It doesn’t matter since this is just the playing, discovering, and doing phase.  It can be fun and/or frustrating. What I learn now will make my next painting better.

Play can be found in every phase.  Just like a little kid, give me some crayons, and let me play. I’m looking to enjoy my life and I do so by connecting to my passion for painting, crafting, and playing art.
